Arabian Racing's Darley Awards; Texas Ready for the Second Leg of the Triple Crown

The 21st annual Darley awards ceremony was held on February 23, 2008 in Scottsdale, Arizona.   This prestigious event, hosted by the Arabian Racing Cup, acknowledges the best in Arabian racing. 

The results for 2007 were:
3-year-old colt – OUR MACHINE, owned by Bill Waldron  
3-year-old filly – Dixie Dance, owned and Bred by Bill and Cathy Waldron, Florida
4-year-old colt – Fryvolous, owned by Dianne Waldron of Florida
4-year-old filly – Rolly Polly, owned by Ken and Nancy Blewett, Texas
Older horse – Aim South, owned by Bill Waldron, Florida
Older mare – Cath, owned by Bill Waldron, Florida
Sprinter- Gimmie A Break, owned by Crerun Farms, Virginia
Jockey – William Hollick
Owner – Bill and Cathy Waldron, Florida
Trainer – Bill Waldron, Florida
Breeder – Darley Stable, UAE
Horse of the Year – Fryvolous, owned by Dianne Waldron, Florida

Other Awards handed out by the Arabian Jockey Club were for Outstanding Performance and included:

*Most Starts by an Arabian Trainer was awarded to: Billy M Lewis, of California who had 248 starts with a record of (31-49-40)2-7 and earnings of $224,888
*Most Rides by an Arabian Jockey was awarded to William J Hollick of Delaware who rode 142 times with a record of (21-23-19)2-8 and earned $296,624
*Arabian Claim of the Year was OUR MACHINE, claimed by Bill and Cathy Waldron.

TEXAS ARABIAN BREEDERS ASSOCIATION is preparing to host the 2nd Leg of the 2008 Triple Crown races: the Texas Yellow Rose, for four year old Fillies and, the Texas Six Shooter, for four year old Geldings and Colts with $50,000 estimated purses.  Over night stake races will begin on Thursday evening preceding The Triple Crown venue, which is planned for Saturday March 29, 2008 at Sam Houston Race Park, in Houston, Texas.
