New Owners SeminarsOne of the best ways to get an in depth education about Arabian racing is to attend a new owners seminar given by the AJC. These seminars are held throughout the year, usually in conjunction with an event like the Darley Awards, or a weekend of stake races. Typically, they begin with a discussion of subjects such as an owner's responsibilities, getting started in racing, expenses and revenue potential, acquiring a horse, finding a trainer, getting your horse to the races, and what happens on race day. Often, experienced owners and/or trainers will be on hand to add to the discussion. There is always ample time to ask questions and discuss other topics not already addressed. After the "classroom" portion, usually there is a tour of the race track facility and the backstretch (or stables) where people can meet some Arabian horses, their trainers and jockeys. Contact the AJC to find out when and where the next seminar is to be held.
