Aurora, CO – The 2017 World Arabian Horse Racing Conference will be returning to Marrakesh, Morocco May 1-7, 2017 under the umbrella of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Flat Racing Festival.

­The announcement was made during a press conference associated with the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) on October 7 by Lara Sawaya. Sawaya’s resume is an expansive one; she is the executive director of the Sheikh Mansoor Festival, chairperson of the International Federation of Horse Racing Academies (IFHRA), and chairperson of the IFAHR Ladies & Apprentice Racing Committee.

The World Arabian Horse Racing Conference will host three days of workshops and panel discussions, in addition to a day of races, press conferences, and other activities, and is supported by the UAE Embassy of Morocco and the Moroccan Royal Society of Horses.

“Marrakesh Racecourse will be inaugurated in May 2017, and will feature the Festival’s four premier races on 6 May,” Sawaya said.

Kathy Smoke, president of the Arabian Jockey Club and USA IFAHR representative, speaks to the conference’s impact on Arabian racing around the world.
