Did You Know?

The Arabian Jockey Club manages the Arabian Racing Hall of Fame (for horses). Recipients of the prestigious award are recognized, not annually, but rather when an individual meets the outstanding criteria on a case by case basis. “The HORSE shall have made a significant contribution to Arabian racing in the United States through the horses own performance and the performance of its
progeny”. Here are the requirements for consideration:

Mares will have had to race for 3 years with at least 3 Stakes wins, and foaled at least 3 Stakes winners and be retired from racing for 5 years.

Stallions will have had to race for 3 years with at least 3 Stakes wins having sired at least 5 stakes winners and retired from racing for at least 5 years.

Geldings could be considered for inclusion into the Racing Hall of Fame providing the gelding was of superior race performance over an extended period of time and have “STAR” recognition such as “Magna Terra Smoky”.

Sharesa and O’Shea Score at Newbury DIAR Prep

The last of the Dubai International Arabian Races prep races took place at Newbury Racecourse on Thursday, 12 July in the 29th July International Stakes with a 1mile 2f race for four-year-olds and upwards. This race concluded a tremendous campaign that beganin Italy at Capannelle racecourse in April. The prep race series has also taken in competitive heats at Bro Park in Sweden France, La Teste de Buch in France as well as Chepstow and Newbury.

Two of the three runners that were representing this season’s leading trainer Phil Collington and were making their UK debut at the meeting having recently arrived from Qatar and attracted significant attention. Both bred in the purple and owned by HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Mohammed BK Al Thani, they looked on paper as the ones to beat, Ishfaq having won or been placed in all his five starts, and the only mare in the race, Sharesa having beaten black type competition in Doha.
