A Rising Star Named Muraaqib

He has always, in fact, been on the rise. Named IFAHR's 2015 top-ranked three-year-old in the world, the French-bred Muraaqib (MUNJIZ x TASHREEFAT, by BENGALI D'ALBRET) – now five years old – only continues to improve.

Things to know about Murraqib:
- Owned by Sheikh Hamdan's Shadwell Stud
- Is a character in the barn, all business on the track
- Runs best being pressed on a strong pace
- Is known for his dangerous kick

Quote from Richard Lancaster, Shadwell Director, in 2016: “Muraaqib is one of the most exciting horses that Shadwell have bred,” Lancaster said. “One day he may well rank up there with No Risk Al Maury,” comparing him to the UAE Champion Purebred Arabian in 2008.

“Obviously it is too early to make comparisons but he has the same characteristic as Bengali d’Albret in that when he picks up he can win in two strides. Arabians generally don’t have a turn of foot.”
