The Arabian Jockey Club is pleased to announce the President of the UAE Cup, Sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, returns to the home of The Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs, on September 24, 2016.  This long established Grade 1 race offering a purse of $100,000 runs under the gracious sponsorship of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and will be featured during the September race meet’s only Downs After Dark night racing event.

Kathy Smoke, President of the Arabian Jockey Club stated, “The President of the UAE Cup race consistently attracts the finest Arabians the USA has to offer.  Churchill Downs has always rolled out the red carpet for the Arabians and the Pres. of the UAE Cup.  We look forward to returning to Churchill Downs this year and in future years.”

What better way to do this than to hold the race at the home of The Kentucky Derby”.

NOMINATION FORM:  The nomination form for the above race is on the AJC website as well as the CD website.  The Arabian race will be the last race on the card this evening.

LICENSING:  For Arabian owner, trainer, assistant trainer, jockey, jockey agent, the annual fee is $35.00 for this Arabian race.  You may obtain your owners/trainers/jockey license on the grounds in the licensing office.  For in-depth information about Churchill Downs visit www.churchilldowns.com  click on Horsemen tab or use the link for Horsemen Information offered above.

TRAINERS :   please be prepared to give your silks colors and description when you enter your horse. 

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS for HORSES to Enter Stable areas:  A separate letter can be found on the AJC website on the Calendar of Events Sept. 24 date.  

Synopsis:    Equine Herpes by a licensed veterinarian a minimum of 14 days and no more than 180 days prior to entry.  The (CVI) Certificate of Veterinary Inspection must accompany a negative EIA Test (aka Coggins taken within 1 yr)  and must be within 72 hours of arrival.   The CVI shall indicate the date of the horse’s vaccination and the specific vaccine product used.

STABLING:  You may ship in to Churchill Downs as early as Monday the 19th of Sept.  Please let Mr. Steve Hargrave know of your time and day of arrival.  He can be reached at 502-541-8818

OWNERS/TRAINERS OF STAKES HORSES:

Each stakes race horse will receive a table of 8 in the stakes room for the owner and trainer as was done in past years. If additional tickets outside of those 8 are needed, they can be purchased through Linda Herron at 502-636-4893.  Ms. Herron is the contact for any small groups of spectators that may want to coordinate being together.  Large groups may contact Troy King at 502-638-3898 to make arrangements.

Owners and Trainers of entered Stakes horses will be notified by telephone by Churchill Downs personnel after the time of entry closes.

OWNERS:  In past years Churchill Downs has utilized a WILL CALL booth where all of your credentials for entering the grounds and the stakes dining room will be held.  Please use Gate # 1 to enter.  If this changes, we will note it on the AJC website.    Please check back periodically for any new updates or changes

For Arabian Four Year Olds and Upward: By subscription of $100 each, which should accompany the nomination or by Supplementary Nomination of $2,500 by time of entry (Includes entry and starting fees), $200 to enter and an additional $250 to start with $100,000 added. After payment of $2,000 to all owners of horses finishing sixth through last, 62% of the remaining purse shall be paid to the owner of the winner, 20% to second, 10% to third, 5% to fourth, 3% to fifth. Weight: 123 lbs. Non-winners of a Grade I race in 2015-2016, allowed 2 lbs.; Fillies and mares, allowed 3 lbs. The maximum number of starters for the President of the United Arab Emirates Cup will be limited to fourteen. In the event that the race overfills the starters will be determined at the time with preference given to horses that have accumulated the highest earnings in 2015-2016. Starters to be named through the entry box by the usual time of closing.
