The coupled entry from Delaware, OUR PRINCESS and Royal Richess, finished 1-2 in the Grade 3 Texas Arabian Oaks for 4 year old purebred Arabian fillies. OUR PRINCESS was ridden by Kirsten Swan, and Laura Carson was the jockey for Royal Richess.

OUR PRINCESS - Texas Arabian Oaks - 11-22-14 - FinishOUR PRINCESS is undefeated in 2014, and until tonight she has only raced at Delaware Park. This year she has also won the Grade 1 Buzz Brauninger Arabian Distaff Handicap and the Grade 2 Cre Run Oaks Arabian Distaff Stakes. OUR PRINCESS is sired by Nivour de Cardonne, and out of Monarchs Princess, by Monarch AH. She is owned and bred by Alan Kirshner and Deborah Mihaloff of Cre Run Enterprises, LLC, and trained by Lynn Ashby.

Royal Richess, also owned and bred by Cre Run and trained by Ashby, settled in behind her stablemate to earn second, placing 7 3/4 lengths over third placed filly RB Burn Baby Burn.

Royal Richess is sired by TH Richie, and out of the mare Royal Atheena, by Monarch AH. RB Burn Baby Burn is also by TH Richie and still barely holds the record as leading 3 year old filly in USA by money earned in 2014 – OUR PRINCESS just behind in yearly earnings. RB Burn Baby Burn is out of Burning Firestar, by Big Easy. She is owned by Guy Neivens, and Dianne Waldron of Rosebrook Farm is her breeder.

In weather that kept most Texas racing fans at home, Deb Mihaloff stood smiling in the winners circle with trainer Lynn Ashby, Kirsten Swan, and Retama Park racing secretary James Leatherman. Mihaloff had flown in from the east coast for the event. “We weren’t sure we were going to get in on time. But we are glad we did. Now no one can question how good these fillies are. We have taken them from Delaware to prove that. It was pouring when we accepted the trophy, but Lynn and I didn’t feel the rain. It was great!”

Top Thess, My Vaz Is Hot and Djets Tigress also ran. The race paid $21,785, divided among all fillies who raced with $10,893 going to the winner.
